{re·vel: to take great pleasure or delight}
What better than to revel in than love?
Meet Jody [the husband].
After dating for 4 years, Jody and I got married in January 2011, so I guess you can still consider us newlyweds. He is the most amazing man that I know.
He loves football, hunting, and sweet tea. He says "yes, sir" and "no, ma'am" and he'll even open your door. What can I say? He's a Texan.
And he seems to know a little bit about everything. That's just one of the reasons he's great to have around.
I have always had a love for being in the kitchen. On the weekends when I was little, I would turn the kitchen into my very own restaurant. I would create a full-on menu - breakfast, lunch, and dinner. My guests would come in, take a seat, place their orders, and be served a delicious meal.... Luckily, I had an awesomely cooperative older sister that would play along with me. And she understood why I was telling her exactly what she could order on the menu (actual kitchen ingredients were very limited compared to my menu items). All week long I looked forward to the weekend, just so that I could be in my own little "Cafe Rose" world.
Today, not much has changed. Well... minus the whole elaborate fake menu. But I'm still waiting for my next chance to be in the kitchen. Even after a busy day of school and work, I can't wait to get home to make dinner. Good thing my husband has a healthy appetite and isn't a terribly picky eater :)
I embrace any opportunity to cook, bake, or eat something delicious. I've been attempting to start my own collection of recipes and figured what better way to keep track of them than to create an actual written account of them in a blog. As a full-time student and worker, you've got to have some sort of escape. For me, this is it - cooking or baking something scrumptious and writing about it.
A few years ago, I found myself beginning to question what was in the food that I was buying. I think food is better when I know exactly what went into making it. So I try to make most meals at home and make healthy decisions, but I'm definitely not perfect. I understand that making healthy decisions is a challenge, especially with some of the options available to us today. Both my husband and I tend to stay pretty busy. Everyday we find ourselves battling to live a healthy lifestyle - financially, emotionally, physically, and nutritionally. But I truly believe it is a battle worth fighting for.
I like to get crafty. I love the pride that comes from making something with my own hands. So at times you may find me making something fun - from gifts to scarves to holiday decorations... It just depends on what ideas
Welcome and thanks for stopping by! I hope that you'll join me as I share my ideas and experiences and revel through this crazy, wonderful life.
